About Upper Room of Erie

The Upper Room of Erie is faith-based ministry which provides a safe and welcoming place for Erie’s poor and homeless year round. Our doors opened on March 6, 1995, and ever since then we have been striving to better our services to help as many people as we can.

We are located at the South Entrance of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 1024 Peach Street, Erie, Pa. The Upper Room is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization registered with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Revitalizing Hope

At The Upper Room, we offer our guests a warm, comfortable place where they are free to spend as much time as they wish. We provide important daily services such as: restroom facilities, access to showers through the Downtown YMCA, telephone privileges, daily newspapers, limited computer use, and an address for receiving essential correspondence. We also serve daily hot coffee, occasional donated snacks, and regular Sunday meals.

We owe everything to our wonderful staff, volunteers, and donors. Generous volunteers keep our site staffed throughout the week, as well as during programs, events, and holidays. We are also eternally thankful for the financial support from the community, because without you, we wouldn’t be able to do what we can now.

Hundreds of people walk through our doors every week, so The Upper Room of Erie makes it our purpose to not only help them, but also ultimately lessen the issue of homelessness in the Erie community.
